JOHN WRIGHT 1947-2008

John's passing on 7th February 2008 came as a great shock to me, only 2 nights earlier I had been chatting at length with him about the plans for the coming year. It seemed that John was just getting more and more popular, almost every concert we played in 2007 was a sell-out, and I've no doubt that 2008 would have been an incredibly successful year for John.
I was very proud to be a part of John's band for the final 2 years of his life, they were the best 2 years of my life. I will never forget how happy I was working with John, how much opportunity and encouragement he gave me. He introduced me to countless new friends and experiences, gave me a lifestyle I could only previously have dreamed of, and gave a platform to my songs that I could not give.

Gregor Borland, John's fiddle player, and I knew that John would want us to continue to play music together, which we've been doing with the help and support of John's lovely wife, Barbara. Those who have attended will testify that we can still put on a great concert and I hope we can continue to build our own reputation, and prove ourselves worthy of the great faith John had in us as musicians.

I miss him terribly, not a day goes by when I don't think of the huge void in my life, and many people's lives, that now exists.

These are a few of my treasured personal photographs from my time on the road with John. You will see the pictures better if you right-click on them and 'Save Picture As...'
